Grass Fire Oak AveWEBThe Oliver Fire Department responded to a small grass fire at 100 Oak Place at approximately 1:30 pm on Saturday.

A white plume of smoke could be seen from Sawmill Road as firefighters rushed to the scene with a couple of trucks.

Media relations officer Rob Graham said they believe the fire was caused by a lawnmower.  No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Graham said grass is very dry right now, so people should be very cautious when using machines with metal blades, because sparks from hitting a rock can cause a fire. Graham said people are also advised to have a water source (even a bucket of water) nearby in case a fire occurs.
