The RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found near the shore of Sawmill Lake early Saturday morning.
On June 7 at 3 am, the Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance near Sawmill Lake northwest of Oliver. Police discovered the body of a woman at the scene and deemed her death to be suspicious.
A person of interest was taken into custody but later released. Investigators do not believe there to be any danger to the public.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages and no charges have yet been laid. The identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
