When the Osoyoos Coyotes head into their two games this weekend, they now have a streak of four wins behind them.
On Tuesday night, the Coyotes shut out the Princeton Posse 4-0 at the Sun Bowl Arena, narrowing the gap between the two teams in Okanagan Division standings.
Tuesday’s victory was the second decisive win over Princeton in three days. Last Saturday, the Coyotes licked the Posse 6-2 in Princeton.
The two consecutive wins leave the Coyotes five points behind Princeton (16-11) in the race for third place in the Okanagan Division.
Earning the shutout Tuesday was goalie Daniel Paul, who has played in net for the Coyotes in all four games of their current winning streak. It was also his second shutout during that time.
Tyler Badger, a hometown rookie, also had a good game Tuesday, scoring two goals, including an unassisted goal while the Coyotes were shorthanded.
Brock Marple opened the scoring halfway through the first period on a power play. Seth Kriese and Bryson Garska assisted.
Ryan MacDonald added another power play goal early in the second period to give the Coyotes a 2-0 lead. Blake Astorino and Bryson Rody got the assists.
Badger then added his shorthanded goal later in the second period and he scored again late in the third period, to make it 4-0. Daelen Der assisted.
The Coyotes outshot the Posse 41-28 in the entire game, and also outshot them in each period.
The next game is this Friday in Armstrong against the North Okanagan Knights, who are currently at the bottom of the Okanagan Division.
The Coyotes then return to the Sun Bowl Arena Saturday night to host the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
