A female driver from Oliver was seriously injured and rushed to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of Osoyoos last Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 3 pm just south of Graveyard Hill.

Witnesses said a woman driving a red Honda Civic with BC plates was passing other drivers aggressively. The car collided with a black Ford F150 truck with BC plates. This twisty section of road has a double solid line throughout.

Osoyoos RCMP said the red vehicle was northbound and the truck was southbound when the Honda Civic crossed the centre line and hit the truck head on.

There was one female in the car and three people in the pickup truck. All were transported to hospital in Oliver.

The female driving the Honda is from Oliver and suffered the most severe injuries, RCMP said.

The other three, from North Vancouver, had minor injuries. Because of the severity of the accident, they were taken to the hospital to be checked over.

The accident is still under investigation and the cause is not yet determined, however, it appears to be human error, according to the RCMP.

The woman’s identity was not released by police, and her medical condition remains unknown.

Graveyard Hill was the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision almost a year earlier on Aug. 6, 2013 and has been the scene of other accidents over the years.
