Gee, who wouldn’t want to run a business featuring “fabulous floats” and “super sundaes?”
Well, the Grade 6/7 class at Tuc-el-Nuit (TEN) Elementary School jumped at the chance recently.
Kathleen Grainger’s class created their own small business with the help of Nathan Linders from the Osoyoos Credit Union and the province’s Junior Achievement program.
Over the course of two weeks, the class did all the work required to run a small business for a day on June 7. They had a kiosk featuring ice cream floats and sundaes, with staff and students purchasing their favourite treat. Grainger said the event was a success in that the students made a profit after paying for supplies.
“With their profit they plan to use some of it for an ice cream treat on our class trip and the remaining amount will most likely be donated to a couple of charities that the students will decide upon.”
