Dear Editor:

Perhaps federal NDP candidate Margaret Maximenko is a very hard working person, but I can’t let her vitriolic, scare mongering nonsense slamming Prime Minister Stephen Harper go unchallenged.

Maximanenko made some very disparaging remarks about our Harper during a recent forum in Oliver where she and fellow federal NDP candidate Dick Cannings made presentations and answered questions. They are running to try and win the seat in the new federal riding of South Okanagan-West Kootenay (SOWK).

Members of the federal riding association will be selecting their candidate at an upcoming meeting in Grand Forks on October 18.

To want to see a criminal charge laid against Harper, she must think he’s a criminal and, in her words, ‘a traitor’.

I’m sure there would be some NDP followers who would refute her assanine comments.

No one leader of a government is always going to satisfy every citizen, but this man and his government has kept Canada’s head afloat through thick and particularly thin the past few years.

Canada is still a well respected nation around the world and I shudder to think what respect we would have if Maximenko and her ilk ran this strong, great nation.
