UDATE: A fire that destroyed a garage/workshop behind the Oliver Food Bank on Sunday is deemed suspicious, according to fire officials.
Nearly 20 firefighters responded to the blaze that fully engulfed the building just after 1:30 a.m. on March 6. The structure was an old workshop on farmland behind the flea market and food bank properties on Station Street.
By the time crews arrived, the structure was a total loss, but firefighters made quick action to knock the fire down.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation.
Crews were on scene for more than two hours with five apparatus.
“The fire is considered suspicious,” said media relations officer Rob Graham.
He said they are not sure what was in the building, adding it didn’t appear that anyone was living in there; it was more of a garage or workshop.
