The Town of Osoyoos is recommending against swimming at Cottonwood Beach after water samples revealed an unsatisfactory level of E.coli bacteria.
This swimming advisory will be in effect until such time that water samples return to a satisfactory nature.
The Town did not specify the level of E. coli it had detected but did note that satisfactory levels of the bacteria in the water are samples taken over a 30-day period containing an average of less than or equal to 200 E. coli bacteria/100ml.
Unsatisfactory levels are defined as samples taken over a 30-day period containing an average of more than 200 E. coli bacteria/100ml, and/or a series of single sample results exceeding 400 E. coli bacteria/100ml.
