The annual Cops for Kids ride is making a stop in Oliver this Saturday, Sept. 6.
Nineteen riders and six support people from the RCMP and supporting enforcement agencies will embark from Kelowna on Friday, Sept. 5.
The 2014 ride, presented by The Thomas Alan Budd Foundation, will take the team across the South Eastern corner of British Columbia to raise awareness and essential funds for children in medical, physical or traumatic crisis.
The team will arrive at the Oliver Fire Department at 11:30 am en route to Grand Forks.
Members of the public are encouraged to come meet with the team for lunch, and to spend time with the SUBWAY “Commit to Fit” truck that’s joining the team on their journey promoting “Random Acts of Fitness.”
As platinum sponsors of the Cops for Kids ride, SUBWAY will sell lunches – a six-inch sandwich, bag of chips and bottle of water for $5 at the fire hall.
One hundred per cent of the proceeds will go directly to Cops for Kids. Quantities are limited, and the lunch will be available from 10:30 am until 1 pm.
“This is a great opportunity for our Subway location to directly assist local children in crisis,” said Subway owner/manager Mark Macdonald. “This team covers some grueling terrain in order to raise money for children who need it most and we’re pleased to be a part of their fundraising efforts.”
Cops for Kids helps children who need essential medical equipment, specialized therapies, and medical travel.
