Cody O’Connor, the eight-year-old boy who was badly burned in a motorhome fire in Oliver last month sadly passed away at approximately 3 pm Friday, September 13, after being taken off life support at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

His grandmother, Pearl De Prez, said Cody passed away in a sunny garden. She said he just couldn’t fight anymore. “As soon as the last line was unhooked, he went very peacefully. The doctors told us it could be minutes or as long as two days, so none of us expected it to be so soon.”

Cody was to be transported to a funeral home in Penticton September 14.

An online fundraising campaign was launched recently to help the family with funeral costs and losses from the fire. More than $1,000 has been raised so far in support of the O’Connor family. Donations can made by visiting  http://www.sharespring.ca/campaigns/cody-o-conner-support-fund
