Oliver’s 2022 Annual Water Report flowed through Council on March 27 with full support and sent to the Town’s website with no discussion.
The following are some of the projects that will continue into 2023. The Okanagan St. Rehabilitation (sewer and water) project sees the town replacing a sewer pipe in the Okanagan St. area near Similkameen Ave. A section of water mainline has to be replaced/upgraded in the construction process.
Canal Lining Rehabilitation is continuing with another 250m of canal concrete wall and floor, located north of the Mud Lake Pumphouse.
Water meter replacements are continuing as well.
This project started in 2020 and is scheduled for several years for necessary changeouts.
The Finance Department is looking at upgrading to new meters that are less susceptible to damage and have a longer life span.
Kootenay St. service upgrades consist of pre-designing future infrastructure upgrades and road improvements on the street.
The town is also researching the capacity of the domestic water system and if future capacity is required the town will start looking for locations for a new pumphouse and possible drilling.
In addition to the annual report, council also heard and passed first and second reading of a Council Procedure Amendment Bylaw change.
This is for a six month pilot for meetings to be held every third week on Mondays, with the Agenda being distributed on Wednesday’s at 4:30 p.m. starting in July 2023.
The six month pilot is to determine the suitability of this schedule.
