Property owners are being urged to use caution when burning outdoors now that fire season has returned.

This was evident on Monday when the Oliver Fire Department responded to a burn pile that “got away on a homeowner” off McKinney Road.

The burn spread into some logs, brush and trees surrounding the area.

Crews were on scene for approximately one hour, containing the blaze to an area 15 metres by 61 metres (50 feet by 200 feet).

All outdoor burning (except campfires) will be prohibited starting April 15.
