Oliver RCMP are investigating incidents of mischief overnight on Fairview Rd. and School Ave. which saw at least three windows broken.

Local residents were roused from their sleep around 1:30 a.m. by the sound of disturbances which included “popping” noises, leading to speculation it could have been gun fire, but in the end turned out to be large rocks that were thrown, according to the RCMP.

The Oliver & District Archives building at Fairview Road and Main Street had two rocks thrown through its window and two vehicles parked along School Ave. had their windows smashed.

The first car was parked on School Ave. near Kootenay St. and had its front window smashed while the second was parked on private property just off School Ave. near Okanagan St. and had its rear window smashed.

A resident on School Ave. said she saw two or three, what looked to be young people walking up the road around the time of the incident. Another resident of the same street reported what looked to be youth of 14 or 15 years of age caught on a door bell camera after banging the front door of the house. The Times Chronicle understands the video has been handed over to police.
