The Town of Osoyoos is reminding residents and visitors that two Cooling Centres are available for those people feeling overwhelmed by the heat or air quality issues.
While important for any extreme heat events that may occur, these facilities are also open on a regular day-to-day basis.
Anyone wishing to drop in to cool off or access cleaner air can visit either of the two locations below.
Sonora Community Centre – 8505 68 Avenue
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sun Bowl Arena – 9301 Hummingbird Lane
Every day (from July 25) 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Osoyoos also offers other areas and facilities that may provide an opportunity to cool off including the Splash Park located on 89 Street and Kingfisher Drive, as well as local beaches. A map showing the various parks and recreation facilities around town can be found here.
