A tribute to one of the greatest singers in rock and roll history is sure to entertain music fans from across the South Okanagan next weekend.

The Lonely … A Tribute to Roy Orbison is set to take place at Frank Venables Theatre  May 14th in Oliver

The band taking the stage is considered one of the very best tribute acts in North America.

The Lonely is a highly acclaimed tribute to Orbison, an all-time music great.

The man known affectionally by his fans and admirers as “Big O” was unmistakable with his trademark sunglasses, his distinctive, powerful voice, and his complex compositions and the dark emotional ballads that millions of music fans love.

From 1960 to 1964, Orbison landed 22 songs on the Billboard Top 40, including Only the Lonely, Crying, and Pretty Woman.

His impassioned voice, bridging the gap between baritone and tenor, coupled with his signature arrangements, ensured the charting of the hits, Only the Lonely, Pretty Woman, Dream Baby, Ooby Dooby, Blue Angel, Blue Bayou, You Got it, In Dreams, Candy Man, Mystery Girl, and many more.

Tragically, like many other wonderful artists of his time, his life was cut short, leaving us only the music.

And long may the music live.

The Lonely delivers a sensitive and dynamic tribute to the one and only Orbison.

The  tribute to Roy Orbison approaches his music with a humble spirit and sincere desire to recreate the sounds and the feel of the original recordings.

Orbison had a remarkable solo career where he produced most of his biggest hits, but his popularity soared back in the 1990s when he became part of the fictitious Travelling Wilburys.

He was joined in that ensemble by rock legends such as Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Jeff Lynne.

The Travelling Wilburys sold millions of records and had numerous Top 10 hits, including several where Orbison provided the lead vocals and arrangements.

The band has been selling out shows right from their debut just one year ago. Tina Coldwell of TLC Entertainment says, “This is one of the best tributes I’ve ever seen and I’ve been in the business for 22 years.”
