As Oliver Landing housing development continues, the Town wants assurance that the builder will follow through with the landscaping plan.
At a recent council meeting, the Town passed a motion to require the landscape design for phase 2 and 3 meets the same standards as phase 1.
Phase 2 and 3 are a continuation of the housing project at 210 Co-op Avenue, where several additional fourplexes are being built (with the exact same layout as phase 1).
The developer has provided a landscaping plan with a cost estimate of $15,600.
But Councillor Dave Mattes questioned the accuracy of the budget numbers, saying council has no way of confirming them.
Mayor Ron Hovanes said there has been some history in Oliver regarding landscaping not being completed as promised.
But Chief Administrative Officer Cathy Cowan said if the developer comes up short, the Town can use the funds set aside (in the security payment) to ensure the landscaping gets done.
