RCMP arrestWEBcropThe Oliver RCMP are hoping the courts will follow their recommendation to have a 48-year-old man banned from the community.

On July 8 Marc Gonzalez appeared in Penticton Provincial Court to enter a plea on six charges stemming from four incidents in Oliver, starting July 3.

According to police, Gonzalez returned to a property in Oliver several times. The owner of the property did not know him and did not want him on her property, said Sgt. Blaine Gervais, who added that Gonzalez acted erratically and caused the woman to be fearful. Gonzalez had been in the Oliver area for employment.

The charges include mischief to property under $5,000, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, and obstruction/resisting arrest.

The Oliver RCMP are asking the courts to have conditions placed on Gonzalez, including to not be in the Oliver area, seek mental health/addiction assessment, and to not have any contact with his victims.
