There’s still time to shoot some amazing wildlife photos and submit them to the BC SPCA’s sixth annual Wildlife-In-Focus Photography Contest.
All amateur photographers aged 14 and up are invited to enter the competition by sending their best of B.C. wildlife photographs by September 30.
With two categories – Wild Settings and Backyard Habitats – shutter bugs can showcase their skills at capturing the stunning beauty and diversity of animals found throughout British Columbia.
“The images we receive each year take our breath away. They really make it hard for the judges to choose the winning entries,” says Dr. Sara Dubois, chief scientific officer for the BC SPCA. “Whether animals in urban settings or isolated locations, we are constantly amazed by the talents of our province’s amateur photographers.”
The contest supports the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) on southern Vancouver Island, where nearly 2,500 orphaned and injured wild animals are cared for each year.
Photos entered in previous contests have been featured in the BC SPCA’s Animal Sense and Bark! magazines as well as in BC SPCA educational materials, local newspapers, websites and social media – a testament to the quality of the photos that are submitted.
Prizes are awarded for the top three photos in each categories; photos must be taken within the province and entered digitally.
