Now you see it, now you don’t.
Oliver RCMP are investigating the theft of more than 150 pieces of 16-foot 2x4s from a transport truck on June 24.
Police said that a driver reported the theft from a blue 2022 Freightliner that was parked 300 metres from the Oliver RCMP detachment on Similkameen Avenue at Packinghouse Lane.
The complainant reported that he parked at that location last Friday evening and all was fine. But someone later cut the ties and tarp and lightened the load by 150 to 180 pieces of lumber.
Police said there was no available surveillance video since the surrounding area is a wooded street.
The RCMP noted there was a similar theft (unreported) two months ago while a truck was parked at Similkameen Avenue and Airport Street. In that incident, 16-foot beams stamped with “MSR2400” were stolen.
