The Town of Oliver has implemented stage 2 watering restrictions due to mechanical issues with one of its pumps.
The Town says these issues affect the amount of domestic water that can be produced and stored for emergencies.
“Temperature increases this week will put further pressure on our domestic water supply, which is why it is vital to conserve water at this time,” the Town communicated in a press release.
The restrictions apply to Town of Oliver residents and rural water system customers. Properties that have water flowing through a water meter or are using domestic groundwater for irrigating must restrict their irrigating based on a house numbering guideline.
Watering may take place for no more than two hours on each permitted irrigation day: odd numbered addresses on Wednesday and Saturday, and even numbered addresses on Tuesday and Friday. Automatic or manually controlled irrigation may only operate between the hours of 7 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. or between 12 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Watering restrictions for micro-irrigation and drip-irrigation systems are as follows: odd numbered addresses on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday; even numbered addresses on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Properties using canal water from a separate irrigation service for farming practices will not be affected at this time.
