GivingTuesday, the global movement of generosity, returns to the South Okanagan for more than just one day with all donations to the South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH) campaign doubled between Nov. 1 to Dec. 2, 2025.
With the successful conclusion of the campaign to build a new oncology clinic at Penticton Regional Hospital, the South Okanagan Similkameen (SOS) Medical Foundation is now focusing on the recently announced $2 million campaign to enhance South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH) in Oliver.
The improvements will ensure patients across the region receive exceptional care close to home, notes the SOS Medical Foundation.
Every dollar donated to this latest fundraiser will stay in the South Okanagan and for one month will see Brutus Truck Bodies by Nor-Mar Industries Ltd. be match donations dollar-for-dollar.
“Gerry Turchak and Nor-Mar Industries, longtime supporters of the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, are once again serving as Matching Gift Champions, encouraging the community to give generously and double their impact,” the Foundation said.
“Whether you are one person, a family, a business or community group, your donations will be doubled when you give during GivingTuesday.”
The SOGH campaign will support three essential initiatives:
- On-Site Ultrasound – More than 3,600 patients currently travel to Penticton for scans. Bringing ultrasound services to Oliver will allow over 2,500 exams annually to be performed locally, improving diagnosis and reducing stress for patients and families;
- Keep the ER Open (Workforce Housing) – Two modular homes will provide short-term housing for visiting doctors and nurses, ensuring the ER remains open and staffed with skilled healthcare professionals;
- Digital Radiography (X-Ray) – Upgrading SOGH’s aging X-ray equipment will improve image clarity, speed up diagnoses, and allow technologists to stay in the room to support patients, enhancing both safety and comfort in emergency care.
“Your support is helping bring leading-edge healthcare closer to home,” says Ian Lindsay, CEO of the SOS Medical Foundation. “Together, we can ensure South Okanagan General Hospital has the tools, technology, and workforce to care for our community when and where it’s needed most.”
