A man has been arrested and charged with various weapons offences after a chain of events on Sept. 11 on Hwy. 97 just outside Osoyoos.
On September 11, Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional RCMP (PSOS RCMP) responded to a reported assault with a weapon on the 8100 block of Highway 97 and shortly after responded to a shooting on the 4100 block of Highway 97 in Osoyoos.
Investigators believe the two events to be related to the same suspect, who was identified and was arrested the following day.
Cash James was charged with weapons offences, assault with a weapon, and discharge of a firearm with intent to wound. James was held in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
“This was excellent work by the PSOS officers who worked as a team in investigating, identifying and arresting the suspect,” says Cpl. Brett Urano, RCMP spokesperson. “They worked tirelessly to advance this investigation and remove this individual from the streets.”
As this matter is now before the courts the RCMP said no further information will be released.
