This week the Okanagan Softball Camp in Oliver is not only teaching girls how to be better players, but how to be better people off the field, too.

That’s the focus of camp coordinator Carolyn Bell, whose passion is teaching girls confidence in life.

Bell managed to recruit the camp’s best ever coaching lineup with the likes of Pan Am Games gold medal winner Jenn Salling, and former Olympic team players Danielle Lawrie and Lauren Lapping.

Salling was overheard telling the girls to take pride in everything they do. She said if scouts see any hint of laziness on the field, they will look somewhere else.

Stay tuned for the full story in next week’s Chronicle.
