Osoyoos resident Bryan Miles has briefly appeared in court three times facing charges of breach of release order and sexual assault. Behind bars since Jan. 25 he appeared on video Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 with his face buried in his hands.
The next court date, set for March 15, will be more substantive as this will be Miles’ arraignment where he will plead either guilty or not guilty.
There was some confusion during his initial court appearances as Miles was asked if he had counsel to represent him to which he was uncertain. The court had on record that he possibly had duty counsel through Legal Aid. It was subsequently confirmed that Patterson was representing him.
Because of the sexual assault charge a publication ban is in place limiting any details that could identify his victim.
The warrant for Miles was issued on Dec. 21 and he was previously the subject of multiple feel good stories around Christmas time where he was acting as a local santa, fixing up bikes and giving them away to children in need.
