I wanted to give a big shout out and thanks for the guys at T2 Market Bottle Depot in Oliver. Last week I dropped off 3 bins of papers to recycle, and I dumped them directly into the crusher, then carried on my way until I went to use my credit card and realized I had misplaced my wallet!
I was trying to recall my actions of the day, when was the last time I remember using it? Which I might add is difficult these days, short term memory has gone out the door! The best scenario I could come up with was somehow my wallet got into the bins of papers I had disposed of. Right away I went to the recycle depot and explained my situation and asked if it was at all possible to get into an already compressed bundle of papers and cardboard… I was told the worker doing that in the morning had already left for the day and they asked if I could come in the morning. He would know which bundle it would be in due to what time I’d dumped the papers. I went to work that day, so it was afternoon when I went back, still no sign of my wallet. I wondered if I was too late… The worker again was gone for the day, and I promised to be there first thing the next morning. And there I was, first thing and they were there ready and willing to help me! Now these bundles are very compact, and this wasn’t going to be an easy feat. But they were very willing to try, and away they went to slice into the bundle, piece by piece, pulling out paper and cardboard. I was starting to feel bad… What if all this work was done for nothing?! As the material was coming looser, I peeked in the side and OMG! I saw a piece of my wallet, and we dug it out! I’ve never been so excited to see that wallet. I had everything and more in there. And I was so very very grateful for the willingness and effort made to help me out. In this very busy and chaotic world we live in, where it seems we only do things for ourselves now, it was a huge relief not to add replacing all my cards and losing a substantial amount of money to the list of things I had to do. I seem to be overwhelmed with so much these days.
Anyways, happy ending to my story and I am very grateful for these guys that went out of their way to help me. I wanted to share my story as we need more stories like this to show that there is still good around us.
