Dear Editor:
The advanced voting is as far away as ever. My wife and I took advantage of this offer, to lesson the walking distance and the standing time. My walking is limited even with a cane; 100 feet seems like a half mile.
I truly hope the party I endorsed appreciates the discomfort I experienced to mark my X. We followed the posted signs that were placed to make the trek known, and we chose the front entrance of the Sonora Centre. We parked, climbed the steps and opened the entry door. At the far, far end of a never ending hall were personnel welcoming us, and directing us to the information receiving counter across the large room.
I wondered at the time: why so far away? There was standing room for 100 people between the greeters and the info table. Do they really get a quantity of voters that require this massive amount of space? A wheel chair would have be a valued asset.
The Sonora Centre had a much needed financial gain. However a room with a ground level entrance where voters with limited mobility could be dropped off to mark their X could be a subject of discussion before the next election.
