Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to the letter from Kell Petersen in the paper on June 17.
He refers government responding to “mass hysteria with no scientific fact.”
I have seen no response at all on the government’s behalf to squash these meters without further investigation into the outcry of health concerns. Like everything else the government chooses to ignore, they are being shoved down our necks whether we like it or not, or whether we can afford the “off” feature.
Mr. Petersen says how great it is reduce the cost to society on our utilities. What of the cost to the meter-readers who are losing their jobs to these so-called smart meters? He states there is more microwave exposure with faulty and leaking microwaves. I would hope that people have enough sense to get rid of any such appliance.
Lastly, Mr. Petersen states the opposition to smart meters “is based simply on beliefs or fears that have no science behind them.” I truly do not know how he has managed to miss the dozens of articles in papers, including this one, on the hundreds of studies, supported by many, many, qualified scientists on the medical dangers of these meters; and yes, of other technologies as well. These are highly intelligent and educated people. I do not see your credentials listed that would make me take your opinion over their research.
