Dear Editor:
Ninety-nine reasons why Stephen Harper has got to go:
1. Under the Conservatives, Senators appointed by Stephen Harper have had the worst scandals in Canadian history;
2. The worst train disasters in Canadian history;
3. The worst unemployment record in modern history;
4. The highest drug costs in the world;
5. The Harper government is the first in Canadian history found to be in contempt of parliament;
6. $30 billion stolen, yes stolen, from my husband’s pension fund (Public Service);
7. The accumulated debt has grown from almost $462 billion the year before they came to office, to $612 billion as of March 31, 2014, a massive $130 billion in their watch;
8. People are working harder but falling farther behind;
9. El Fund raided $50 billion;
10. They defeated a private member’s bill to eliminate the tax loopholes at par to the U.S.;
11. Dean Del Mastro, Tory MP and parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister, got one month jail time for election fraud;
12. Supports “fracking,” and poisoning huge amounts of the water table for extracting LNG;
13. The Conservatives have violated election laws at least 17 times;
98. $36 billion cut from health care;
99. For Harper, we the people simply do not matter.
Harper has destroyed Canada, including Canadian science, and Canadian lakes and just about everything Canadians used to hold dear.
To me, Harper has one consideration, and that is to let the rich get richer and the poor fend for themselves.
Let’s hope that on Oct. 19, Canadians will rise up and take Canada back.
