The annual RCMP charity golf tournament raised $55,000 for the Honour House facilities.
The golf tournament was held at the Spallumcheen Golf Club in Vernon after the Osoyoos Golf Club cancelled all tournaments, according to Tammy Herman, chairperson of the 2022 RCMP Golf Tournament.
Honour House provides housing for any military (including veterans) or first responder and their families that need medical attention.
Herman said the tournament was a “huge success” and added: “we want to ensure that the community of Osoyoos knows how much we appreciate their support with the community garage sales and collecting bottles and cans for this purpose.”
Like most things over the last two pandemic years fundraising was difficult. “For the past four years through all the trials and tribulations, the residents and guests of Osoyoos and Oliver have supported our cause and donated graciously,” she said.
Honour House in New Westminster provides help for those receiving treatment at one of the two trauma hospitals in the Lower Mainland while Honour Ranch, just outside of Kamloops offers treatment for any officer suffering from PTSD.

“With hundreds of troops returning from the Middle East and many of them from B.C., we could use many more,” Herman said.
A total of 337,997 cans and bottles were collected for this cause in the past four years waiting for the green light to go ahead with the tournament after COVID-19 restrictions. The rest was from the community garage sales and private donations.
