An Osoyoos man is in custody awaiting a court date after RCMP arrested him west of town with a stolen truck, trailer and license plate.
Michael Miller, 33, was charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property valued at more than $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession of burglary tools.
He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
Osoyoos RCMP said they received a call on May 17 about a theft in progress at Osoyoos Self Storage involving a trailer.
The suspect had departed the 115 Street area heading west on Highway 3. Police followed him and located the suspect in a truck on Highway 3 near Nighthawk Road.
He was arrested for possessing the stolen trailer. Police then discovered a license plate had been stolen two days earlier in Osoyoos and the truck was stolen in Summerland the previous week.
Numerous burglary tools were also found in the vehicle. Miller was the only occupant.
Teenage girl avoids deer, loses control of vehicle
An Osoyoos teen received minor injuries in the early morning Sunday when she swerved to avoid a deer.
Osoyoos RCMP said the girl lost control of her Chevrolet Aveo and went off the road when she was returning to Osoyoos after a prom in Cawston around 3 a.m.
The girl had a sore wrist and was checked by ambulance personnel, but was not hospitalized.
Thieves hit same garage for a second time
Thieves have hit the same garage on Anarchist Mountain for the second time in recent months.
Osoyoos RCMP said they received a report on Friday that the garage on Highway 3 had been broken into. The suspects entered and stole a Shop Vac, a dolly and grille and taillights for a 1991 Chevy S10.
