The Osoyoos Rattlers senior boys basketball team once again finished first at the annual tournament in Barriere on the weekend.
This is the fourth time the Osoyoos Secondary School team has participated in that tournament and every time they have finished in first place.
The rattlers won three tournaments in a row in 2013, 2014 and 2015. They didn’t participate in 2016.
“I’m very proud of the team,” said coach Casey Brouwer.
In their first game, the Rattlers faced NorKam Secondary School from Kamloops, a AAAA team, and won 69-62.
They then played Ashcroft Secondary School in the second game, winning by a decisive 102-34.
This put them into the finals to face Barriere.
The final game saw the Rattlers win with a tighter 74-64 to take the championship.
“We won with big help from our bench players,” said Brouwer. “We had two of our starters get in foul trouble.”
Arshdeep Gill of the Rattlers was named most valuable player of the tournament. He scored 37 points in the final game against Barriere.
Gurlal Dhaliwal of the Rattlers was named tournament all-star.
The Rattlers face rival Keremeos in a game this Wednesday, Feb. 8. Game time is 4:15 p.m. in the OSS gym.
