B.C.’s provincial health officer announced the launch of a province-wide online survey on the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic Tuesday afternoon.

The survey is intended to get feedback from British Columbians about their experiences during the pandemic, and Dr. Bonnie Henry said the survey is intended to inform officials from a more personalized perspective.

“We have launched a province-wide survey to gather your feedback, your experiences and your actions in the COVID-19 pandemic so far here in British Columbia,” said Dr. Henry. “The information that we gather will help inform the decisions that we make in the weeks and months ahead.”

The survey is also an opportunity for participants to get involved with studies about immunity, report ongoing health information and possible symptoms to health authorities, as well as express interest in using technology for contact tracing through mobile phones.

Minister of Health Adrian Dix said the survey was also launched to help health authorities who “always need to learn” and “prepare for the future.”

“This survey is one more step you can take to help your community live as well as possible during this time,” said Dix.

The survey can be completed online at www.bccdc.ca/covid19survey.

The announcement of the survey came during the daily provincial update on the state of COVID-19 in the province. The province also announced only seven new test positive cases and no new outbreaks in B.C. as of May 12.

The pair also reported a large reduction in positive cases, with a decline in over 100 active cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of active cases to 397 in B.C.

There has been one additional death in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 131.
