The Southern Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS) in Oliver is hosting a two day Pow Wow, titled “Celebration of Traditions” this weekend.
Grade 4’s from School District 53 (SD 53) along with high schools including SOSS and Osoyoos Secondary School are participating on Friday (Apr. 21) morning and afternoon with the event open only to the school community.
The event opens to the public Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with visiting drummers and dancers from around the province. Admission is free.
Saturday is also open to the public and kicks off with breakfast from 9-11 a.m. followed by dancing and drumming from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday during which a Hand Drum Contest will be held. Dancing resumes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The event is taking place in the gymnasium of SOSS in Oliver (6140 Gala Street).
