The Louisiana Hayride Show, showcasing tribute artists and a live band has been producing shows to audiences across Western Canada since March 2010 and is coming to Oliver’s Venables Theatre on May 7.

The “Louisiana Hayride Show” pays tribute to a historical radio program that featured music and helped to launch the careers of some greats of American country and Western music and is most famously known for its Elvis connection.

The show features music from a variety of “greats” such as Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buck Owens, Marty Robbins, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Lefty Frizzell, Loretta Lynne, Conway Twitty, Crystal Gayle, Roy Orbison and Shania Twain.

Some of the classics you can sing along with include Hound Dog, Love Me Tender, Crazy, If You’ve Got the Money, Pretty Woman, Coalminer’s Daughter, Louisiana Woman/Mississippi Man, Hello Darlin, Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, That’ll Be the Day, Peggy Sue, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under, Honey I’m Home and more.

The show is primarily focused around music, but there is also antics by the artists and bits of information about the legends and their songs.

The trip down memory lane into classic country and rock hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday May 7 at Venables theatre, tickets are $50 and can be purchased through venablestheatre.ca.
