Hit and run

Oliver RCMP are looking for a mystery driver who fled the scene of a single vehicle accident on Fairview Road on Monday afternoon.

Sergeant Ken Harrington reported that a hydro pole had been struck east of Willowbrook Road just before 4:30 pm.  The pole was broken in two places and hydro was out in the area for some time.

Harrington said the suspect vehicle left behind a front, left side light assembly and a piece of fiberglass.  The light assembly has been identified as being associated to a 1991 to 1993 Acura Integra, and the fiberglass was black in colour, although the original paint appears to have been red.

It is unknown if there were any injuries as a result of the crash.  Speed appears to have been a factor.

Beware of nocturnal thefts

Police are once again warning vehicle owners in Oliver to “lock it or lose it.”

Nocturnal thefts from unsecured vehicles continue to be reported to the Oliver RCMP.

“Oliver residents should be aware of the fact that there are those that walk our streets and alleys in the night and finding an unlocked vehicle door appears to be too much for them to ignore,” said Sgt. Ken Harrington.

He noted valuables should not be kept in vehicles.
