The Nk’ Mip Desert Cultural Centre held a full day of events to celebrate National Aboriginal Day in Canada this past Saturday, which also marked the first day of summer. Close to 30 local residents and visitors took part in the festivities. The schedule of events included an opening prayer and First Nations smudge, which was led by Osoyoos Indian Band member and interpreter Kxansulaxw Hall. This was followed by the serving of traditional bannock and refreshments and a guided walk to the village. Participants also viewed the acclaimed film Coyote Spirit.
