Members of the reigning Osoyoos Royalty have been kept extremely busy over the past couple of months attending numerous community events in town, including the popular Breakfast With Santa event at the Osoyoos Baptist Church just before Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Claus are seen with Princesses Ali Hutter (left), Amara Lesson and Queen Teagen Aspell. Royalty members welcome any opportunity to help out a local organization or support a local event. Princess Ali and Princess Amara would like to share with you what your Osoyoos Royalty has been up to over the past two months.
We hope everyone had a happy Christmas and New Year holiday.
November was a very busy month for us. On the Nov. 8, all three of us were pleased to take part in the Osoyoos Soroptimists’ fashion show.
We picked outfits to model from the Wander Café and had a great time.
Later that day, Princess Ali took part in Shoppers Drug Mart’s Annual Beauty Gala, in support of breast cancer research with the Canadian Cancer Society.
She had a lovely time greeting customers and supporting this wonderful cause.
That same evening was the annual Osoyoos Child Care Centre Fall Harvest Dance. The Royalty team, committee and parents helped out, and had lots of fun.
On Remembrance Day on Nov. 11, we were honoured to have an opportunity to show our respect to all of the men and women who have served our country. We were privileged to place a wreath of remembrance during the town’s service at the Sonora Community Centre.
We were honoured to be able to share this special occasion with local veterans who did so much for our country.
The first annual Cactus Ridge Fair was held on Nov. 22. This fair included art work, crafts, baking, and other vendors’ items for sale.
All three of us sold refreshments and snacks and helped sell homemade baked goods, made by the residents of Cactus Ridge.
We love spending time with people around Osoyoos.
It’s that time of year again for the Osoyoos Royalty Program to start looking for new candidates.
On Nov. 24, we held a pre-Christmas social for potential participants to find out more about this program. Thank you to all who came out.
We will be holding a meeting at Osoyoos Secondary School in January. There will be numerous events leading up to the selection of a new Queen and Princesses during the annual Cherry Fiesta celebrations in Osoyoos.
In November, we also had various fundraisers to support our program. We were selling Purdy’s chocolates, Regal, and frozen meat/baking. We truly appreciate all of you who supported us through these fundraisers.
We also had several events during the month of December. The first was on Dec. 5, being part of the wonderful Christmas Lite-Up parade, along with some of our little buddies.
Even though it was a little chilly, we all enjoyed being part of this great tradition.
The next morning, we helped out at the Breakfast With Santa’event, where many had their pictures taken with the jolly old man.
We also visited the annual craft fair at the Royal Canadian Legion.
On Dec. 17, we took part in Desert Sun’s open house, greeting people and giving tours at this event.
On Dec. 20, we helped out at the Sun Bowl Arena’s Rockin’ With Santa event at the cookie decorating and craft stations.
We are very happy to take part in any community events, so if you have one coming up, why not get in touch with Cathie Baskett 250-495-5174.
If we could be of service to you, we are more than willing to help out.
Have a good New Year.
