Dear Editor:
On the weekend of June 9-10, the Pottery Shop sign outside of the Osoyoos Potters’ studio facing onto 89 Street in downtown Osoyoos was stolen.
The sign disappeared between Friday, June 8 and Sunday, June 10.
The person or persons who stole the sign fortunately removed the sign without damaging the wall of the arts building.
The unique sign is made up of 16 individual tiles, plus wording.
It took the potters two years to create and they are at loss as to what purpose or use the thief or thieves would have for it.
Whether this was an innocent graduation prank or outright vandalism matters not to the potters, who would like their sign back, no questions asked. It is sad to know that such acts go on in our community.
A lot of hard work and effort went into making this sign and it would be very much appreciated if the person or persons responsible would do the right thing and return it to its rightful owners.
If anyone has any information regarding the theft of the sign, please call 250-495-2800.
The members of the Osoyoos Potters remain very upset by what has happened.
