The Oliver Fire Department responded today (Friday, Jan. 24) at 4:17 p.m. to reports of a single family residence on Hwy. 97 in the vicinity of Road 1.
The OFR arrived to see smoke and flames showing at the structure. At 4:57 p.m. Osoyoos Fire Rescue responded to a mutual aid request from Oliver Fire Department.
Osoyoos Fire Rescue responded with one engine and four firefighters to the emergency request while having enough resources to cover Osoyoos in their absence.
“On arrival of our engine, our crews joined Oliver Fire Department with overhaul and extension work. Our firefighters were in service for two hours and returned home around 7 p.m.,” the Osoyoos department said.
“Aggressive suppression efforts had the fire in mop up and overhaul within the hour,” the OFR said in a social media post.
Crews and one apparatus remained on scene checking for hot spots and final overhaul.
No injuries were reported to OFD.
“We would like to thank Osoyoos Fire Rescue for sending an engine company of four to assist with overhaul,” said the Oliver Fire Department.
