Corporal Sean Hall from the Oliver RCMP took the “ice bucket challenge” on Wednesday.
“I don’t usually take part in viral challenges, but this is different,” Hall said after Sgt. Ken Harrington dumped a large bin of ice water over his head outside the detachment.
Hall raised more than $200 for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as part of the challenge that has raised millions of dollars across North America in only a few weeks.
Hall said he took the challenge because his wife’s friend died of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was nominated to take the challenge by his brother, a police sergeant in Delta. Now, Hall has nominated Staff Sgt. Kurt Lozinski to get wet behind the ears.
Hall said that Harrington took great pleasure in prolonging the challenge by “extending the pour.”
