Library lovers rejoice – an Okanagan Regional Library branch near you will soon reopen.

Throughout July, branches will open their doors offering “browse and borrow” access. During this time patrons will be able to enter the library, browse the collection, use socially distanced computers and borrow materials.

Meeting spaces, study rooms, public seating, and other gathering areas in the library will be closed to the public.

Library enthusiasts will be encouraged to select materials quickly and check them out using self-checkouts. There will be a limit on the number of patrons allowed in the library at one time.

Online programming, including the ever-popular children’s summer reading club, which has gone virtual this year, will continue.

The browse and borrow system will replace the curbside delivery program that began in June.

“We know that the public is anxious to enter our library space once again,” said Don Nettleton, ORL CEO . “Staff are looking forward to seeing you in your library again while maintaining safe social distances.”

Dates of the Phase 3 changeover and adjusted hours of operation will be posted over the next few weeks.
