Constable Amit Goyal’s disciplinary hearing date is March 8 in Vancouver, where allegations of misconduct will be addressed.
For the first time in nearly three years, the RCMP has listed the allegations being faced by former Osoyoos constable Amit Goyal.
After numerous delays, his disciplinary hearing was to be heard on March 8, but once again the matter has been pushed back until July.
Goyal was suspended with pay from the Osoyoos RCMP in June 2013.
Goyal faces three allegations under section 39 of the 1988 RCMP regulations and two under section 45 (b).
Section 39 says that a member shall not engage “in any disgraceful or disorderly act or conduct that could bring discredit on the Force.”
It cites as examples conduct “prejudicial to the impartial performance of the member’s duties” or conduct resulting in a finding that the member is guilty of an indictable or summary offence.
Goyal has never been charged with an offence relating to any incident.
Section 45 (b) says a member shall not make a false, misleading or inaccurate statement to a superior officer pertaining to an investigation.
The suspension follows an incident when two vehicles were reported stolen from Goyal’s residence a week apart in the fall of 2012 and were later found burned on Anarchist Mountain.
A local man with a criminal record was fingered as a suspect, but later was cleared by a lie detector test.
Until now, the RCMP adjudications website has not listed allegations and the RCMP has refused to provide this information.
