Wildfire northeast of Hedley now ‘under control’

7:26 p.m. update – BC Wildfire now lists this fire as “Under Control”.

A wildfire discovered on July 8 burning slightly more than 10 km northeast of Hedley (east of Hedley Creek and south of Broken Creek) is considered ‘out of control’ by the BC Wildfire Service.

Currently there are two initial attack crews, two single resources, two helicopters and a water tender responding to the fire, according to BC Wildfire.

The fire is currently estimated at 0.6 hectares and the cause is under investigation.
