A female motorist suffered injuries this afternoon after her vehicle struck a power pole on Highway 97 near Gallagher Lake Lodge.
The highway was shut down for some time as the pole was angled precariously over one lane of traffic, and its lines were hanging low over both lanes.
The Oliver Fire Department secured the scene, and the motorist was told to stay in her vehicle since the lines were believed to be still energized.
FortisBC crews arrived and isolated the power so that ambulance paramedics could treat the woman, who suffered undetermined injuries. She was taken to hospital for further treatment.
It was not determined what caused the accident.
No traffic was allowed through until FortisBC dealt with the low-hanging wires.
