A motorcyclist suffered injuries after he was rear-ended by another vehicle on Highway 97 at Road 7 last Friday.
At 3:30 pm on June 17, the Oliver RCMP responded to a collision between an SUV and a motorcyle on Highway
97 at the intersection of Road 7 south of Oliver.
Police investigated the collision and determined that two motorcyclists were travelling north on Highway 97 and were stopped
in traffic at the intersection of Road 7. A northbound Toyota 4 Runner rounded the corner and rear-ended one of the
motorcyclists who was riding a Harley Davidson, according to police.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to South Okanagan General Hospital where he received treatment. The severity of his injuries are not known.
The driver of the Toyota 4 Runner was not injured.
Corporal Brian Evans of the Oliver RCMP reminds the public that Highway 97 between Osoyoos and Oliver is a narrow two-lane highway with numerous
intersections and access points.
“Please respect the speed limit and be aware of vehicles slowing or stopping along this route,” he said.
