An investigation in this afternoon’s accident in downtown Oliver revealed that a mobility scooter and an SUV collided at the intersection of Fairview Road and Main Street.
Witnesses at the scene told police that a 95-year-old Oliver resident on a scooter entered the intersection on a red light. A woman driving a Grey Nissan SUV was travelling northbound on Main Street and reportedly didn’t see the individual, which resulted in the collision.
Firefighters provided medical attention until an ambulance arrived and transported the man to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said no charges are being pursued against either party.
“Family members of the elderly male expressed concerns about his vision which may have contributed to the accident,” Wrigglesworth said, noting that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the incident.
