A driver suffered serious injuries after a Mercedes sheared off a power pole on Highway 97 near Road 12 on March 1.
Oliver RCMP Cpl. Paul Symons reported that the single-vehicle collision occurred just before midnight on Wednesday. He said a Mercedes veered off the highway and crashed into a wooden power pole, shearing it off.
“The single occupant sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Pentiction hospital.”
Symons said weather conditions were good and it is “evident that a high rate of speed was a contributing factor.” The vehicle sustained significant damage.
