Oliver residents and business owners will see some changes on their tax notices this year.
Town council recently gave first three readings to 2019 Tax Rates Bylaw 1384.
In a report by Deputy Finance Officer Heather Wilson, the average Oliver residence is based on an assessed value of $391,377, up from $359,615 in 2018.
She notes the average home assessed in 2019 will see its municipal tax payments increase by $60.68 (compared to the average house in 2018).
Residents will also see an RDOS tax decrease of $59.97, a library tax decrease of $6.66, a hospital tax decrease of $6.90, a school tax increase of $35.65, and a police tax increase of $2.70. This amounts to a total increase of $25.50 compared to the prior year.
Wilson says the average business is based on an assessed value of $353,618 (compared to $332,478 in 2018).
The average business assessed in 2019 will see its municipal tax payments increase by $92.40.
Other changes include an RDOS tax decrease of $163.34, a library tax decrease of $18.29, a hospital tax decrease of $25.36, a school tax decrease of $88.02, and a police tax increase of $6.53. The total decrease will be $196.08 (compared to the prior year).
