The members of the Osoyoos Citizens on Patrol (COP) program in Osoyoos are going to look good while performing their volunteer duties moving forward. That’s because Unity Clothing and Board Sports and Osoyoos Home Hardware chipped in to pay for 20 new colourful yellow jackets that will be worn by COP members. Unity helped design the jackets as well. Showing off the new jackets are (left to right) Unity owner Jamie Elder, Carla Sologuk and John Jorgens from Osoyoos Home Hardware, Chris Boxall, the co-ordinator of the Osoyoos Citizens on Patrol Program and Osoyoos RCMP detachment commander Cpl. Jason Bayda. It was only a few months ago that the COP program in Osoyoos was in jeopardy due to a lack of volunteer members. However, that all changed once Boxall and other program leaders went public and asked for more members to join. There is now a healthy contingent of more than 20 volunteers who patrol local beaches and neighbourhoods and report back to the local RCMP if there are any signs of trouble or laws being broken in our community.
