Street patios like this one in Kelowna could become more common in Osoyoos. Town staff are working on a bylaw and policy update that will change the Town’s sidewalk use policy. (Town of Osoyoos)

Re: Sidewalk patios could become more common with street use policy update

I have lived in Osoyoos for 30 years. I volunteer for the wellness clinic, I belong to the Senior Centre and go to church. I do not ride a motorcycle, and I do not know any senior that does.

I am strongly against the restaurants having patios, tables and chairs in front of their businesses.

Quite a few people use wheelchairs or walkers to get around, and find it difficult enough. The other businesses will suffer.

Highway 3 runs right down Main Street; in the summer it is difficult enough to find a parking space.

This is not like Penticton; they do have patios but Highway 3 is blocks away.

I drive a large car. I feel safer in it with the big trucks driving through town and along Highways 3 and 97.

God willing, you might be a senior one day too.

Respectfully,

Barbara Lodge, Osoyoos
